Info

Saxophonist Benjamin Herman has been one of the most prolific musicians of his generation for over thirty years. He has released more than fifty albums with his band New Cool Collective and as a solo artist. At Oerol, Benjamin Herman Trio will perform traditional jazz, punk jazz, film music and postmodern interpretations of the work of composer Misha Mengelberg, among others.
The Benjamin Herman Trio’s repertoire consists of pieces from Herman’s earlier work, supplemented by new material from their upcoming album, which will be recorded in Tokyo in April with Japanese guest musicians. For the past year and a half, their live set has included songs from Herman’s albums True Love’s Flame and Nostalgia Blitz. Also featuring various compositions by Dutch composer Misha Mengelberg, occasional jazz standards, and pre-recorded voices of deceased Dutch poets Jules Deelder and Remco Campert, punk poet John Cooper Clarke from Manchester and – if the atmosphere permits – Benjamin’s own vocals.
