Info
This year, De Jut Fabriek is taking the children of Terschelling under its wing to convert beach plastic in their mobile plastic processing factory. Step by step, the children, from grade 1 to grade 8, work from plastic waste towards a fantastic end product: a toolbox for building a sandcastle! Come to the beach and join in building the sandcastle. For everyone from 8 to 88 and beyond.
Annually, five to thirteen million tons of plastic end up in the ocean, which is incredibly detrimental to our environment. De Jut Fabriek raises awareness of this global issue by organising workshops, inspiring (local) entrepreneurs, and transforming littered plastic into sustainable products. This year, they’ll involve island children in the process of separating plastic waste, designing, and creating something new from it.
Oerol initiates an educational project each year for all classes of the five primary schools on Terschelling. One or more artist(s) develop a special project for the schools. The outcome is presented during Oerol. If you attend school on Terschelling, you participate in an educational project eight times (every school year) and become an artist at Oerol.
This Expedition can be visited daily from June 8th, between 11:00 and 17:00.
