Zea, alias Arnold de Boer, offers a preview of his new show and upcoming album In lichem fol beloften, set for release this autumn in collaboration with Explore the North and Popfabryk. Expect a four-piece band featuring top musicians and beautiful Frisian-language poetry.
Zea bends time, stretches it out, spins rhythms into pulsing circles, pulls tones from the ground and conjures words from the depths of his being. In lichem fol beloften is a dance to cast spells with the body, drive out pain and checkmate death. A cadence of drums and strings, a minimalist trance of guitar, cello, clarinet and percussion. At Oerol, Zea performs in the intimate setting of the West-End Theater, joined by clarinettist Xavier Charles and drummer Ineke Duivenvoorde.
This performance is part of the Explore the North Hub. From 13 to 22 June, Explore the North presents work across the island by emerging talents connected to its production house. Explore the North is both a festival and creative hub based at Podium Explore in Leeuwarden.
