Welcome to the other side of the throwaway society. From a pile of waste equivalent to what a European discards annually, six performers emerge. They toss away rubbish, possessions, and each other. They become objects, and these objects define their lives. They wait for something—a redemption, a new world. Can they escape the self-made prison of the consumer society?
Waste Me is a dance performance by choreographer and theatre-maker Cecilia Moisio, specially created on location for Oerol. The show offers a strong commentary on our consumer society. Consumerism – buying more and more items as pastime or to elevate one’s status – influences how we value ourselves and others. Waste Me confronts you with this harsh reality but also transports you to a world where people are more valuable than possessions, where happiness is more important than ownership. To the real Utopia. A passionate plea for consuming less.
