Piéton

In Piéton, Kenneth Berth organises a meeting with the man who hit him on a pedestrian crossing in Paris. There seems to be a massive gap between him and the driver. Yet, both parties often stand closer to each other than we think. In this performance, Berth attempts to redefine the concepts of perpetrator and victim.

One evening, Kenneth Berth is crossing a zebra crossing in Paris. The pedestrian light is green. A driver speeds through the red light. They can’t avoid each other. There’s a loud crash: Berth is hit by the car. The driver drives off, and the playwright is unable to walk for six months. Sometimes, opposing parties shake hands in the courtroom. Could they do the same? Could they truly understand each other better knowing what the other has experienced?
