Een poëtisch rommeltje is a performance by Mahat Arab and Gerrit van Balen about growing up, growing old — and a fear of football shirts. Mahat is a spoken word artist and programmer from Arnhem. His work often explores themes of identity and awkwardness, as well as the humour that can be found in discomfort. Gerrit began his musical journey as a guitarist before studying jazz at the conservatoire in Utrecht. He now works as a composer, sound designer and producer across disciplines — and for himself. Above all, he prefers to make the kind of music he wishes already existed.
