Hond Geworden

On his third album, Hond Geworden, Bert Scholten picks up where he left off with Dat Speelt Hier Niet (2023), featuring songs about wooden speculaas moulds set to jagged electronic compositions. Since 2018, he has been weaving local Dutch customs into exhibitions, videos, and now this performance — where the old-fashioned becomes strangely personal.

The half-sung, half-spoken style of Dat Speelt Hier Niet has evolved into full song. Hond Geworden is more personal and intimate. Synths blend with exploratory drumming and vibraphone, giving the electronic textures a visceral, physical energy. With roots in garage punk bands, DIY experimental music and performance art, Bert Scholten is often described as a contemporary troubadour.
