What if a beloved relationship can still be felt, but no longer touched? How do we digest loss — personally, collectively, or ecologically? Compost takes center stage in a ritual act, forest walk, and interactive installation that create space for mourning.
For the last time, Elmo Vermijs returns with StagingWood; a multi-year artistic research project focused on learning from the forest. With changing coalitions, Narratives of the Forest, Assembly of Trees, How Forests Think, KRAK, and Vergaan were created. This year, the life stage of decay takes center stage, completing the circle. Organic waste from the forest was composted in a biomeiler to create fertile soil that returns to its origin, becoming part of the forest’s life cycle once again.
