Travel to and from Terschelling

Rederij Doeksen is the shipping company that sails from Harlingen to Terschelling and Vlieland. They have included three different boats in the timetable :

Car ferry: with a sailing time of approximately two hours, this boat is also called the slow boat. In addition to passengers, bicycles and cars can also be transported on it. A return trip to Terschelling by car is quite expensive (approximately €240,- including one person). Therefore, come by bike as much as possible. That is not only cheaper, but also contributes to compliance with our Ecological Compass.
Fast service: this catamaran has a sailing time of approximately 50 minutes. Only passengers travel on it (plus a maximum of two suitcases per person).
Freight boat: this boat is only available for high/long trucks and trailers. It is not possible to book this boat yourself, but team travel and accommodation will be happy to help you.

Theatre companies and visual arts

Theatre companies and visual arts makers can book the boat tickets for the entire team themselves. In the hustle and bustle before the festival, things often go differently than planned. Someone misses the boat, arrives a day earlier or can only go home a day later. You can easily book and change tickets yourself via the Rederij Doeksen website . This way you can keep full control over the booking yourself and quickly implement any changes, so that you always know exactly where you stand. Are you wondering whether this applies to you? Change in boat schedules

The boat to Terschelling fills up quickly in spring and summer with cars and trucks. Due to the crowds it is often not possible to change a reservation that has been made.

Do you want to change the outward journey? Only the team travel & accommodation can do this.
Do you want to change your return journey? You can arrange this yourself by calling Rederij Doeksen (088-9000 888) or by going to the counter in the ferry terminal. Keep your reservation number at hand. This number is on your ticket. If the change entails additional costs (for example because the fast service is more expensive), this will be settled by means of a one-off (telephone) authorisation or by a payment at the counter.

Tips for self-booking

Is someone not going to make the boat? Change the time of the ticket before the boat leaves! Changing is still free. If the boat has left, your ticket will expire and you will have to book a new ticket with all the additional costs.
Always book tickets per person instead of per group. Is someone delayed and do you need to change something last minute? A group booking must first be pulled apart. That takes a lot of time and can just ensure that you are too late to change.
For example, if the days or times for your return journey are not yet final, but you still want to fix your outward journey? Then book a ticket for the return journey with a fictitious time or date far in the future. The tickets are easy to change if the information is final.
Do you have a vehicle longer than 6 meters? Then team travel & accommodation can book the tickets. We will ask you for the necessary information in April.

Parking in Harlingen

There are several parking options near the terminal. A shuttle bus runs from these parking lots to the terminal. More information can be found at www.parkerenharlingen.nl . We recommend reserving a parking space online in advance via this website. This way you are guaranteed a spot and you save one euro per day on your parking costs.

Boat terminal

Be on time at the terminal (Waddenpromenade 5 in Harlingen). Otherwise, you run the risk of the reservation being cancelled. Did the team travel & accommodation book the tickets for you and are you not making a reserved departure? Please report this immediately to the team travel & accommodation before departure (at least one hour) of the departure in question. If you report this too late, the ticket can no longer be changed and must be paid for. Oerol will invoice this amount to the group. The terminal of the cargo ship has a different address.
