HOLOBIONT is a shapeshifting happening in which queer performers claim space for fluidity, transformation and radical vulnerability. Performers in various stages of (gender) transition weave their stories into a sensory landscape of bodies. In a hybrid setting, performances flow into one another — and you, whether active or passive, become part of this exuberant experience.
HOLOBIONT is not a performance — it’s a celebration. In a dark nightclub in the heart of Terschelling, we honour the beauty of not being finished. In this four-hour happening, queer performers invite the audience into a sensory landscape of bodies resisting binary categories. An anarchist dancefloor. No seats, no stage. You can dance — or sit in a corner with a beer. A festive encounter full of flamboyant flourishes, feathers, wigs, power drills and tender little songs.

HOLOBIONT is part of the Werkplaats. Within Oerol Werkplaats both emerging and established creators are given space to develop location-inspired work throughout the year, often in collaboration with partners. During the festival, several of these artists-in-residence explicitly invite you, the audience, to become part of their work in progress.
