In the heart of the dunes, a structure rises. A space between noise and silence, between the ordinary and the meaningful, between the worldly and the sacred. This installation evokes ancient sanctuaries and rites of passage, offering you space for stillness.
Like a monumental embrace, Silent Fragments invites you to pause and find rest. In his research, Felipe van Laar draws inspiration from architectural structures and natural spaces that evoke silence. To feel an inner connection, to feel connected to others — or perhaps to something greater. Van Laar seeks to translate the sacred into architectural elements, in dialogue with the surrounding landscape. Each structure is ritually built by himself, together with friends, using as little material as possible. Silent Fragments is a diptych. The installation at Oerol is part of a broader contemplative experience created in connection with the IJssel Biennale this summer.
Visual arts can be visited daily from Saturday 14 June between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
