We started 2025 on a high note with the Eilander New Year’s Gathering, which we organised together with Stichting Evenementen Terschelling (Berenloop, Fjoertoer), Staatsbosbeheer and VVV Terschelling.
It was a lively and well-attended gathering in our warehouse in Kinnum, which Oerol purchased from Heineken late last year with support from Stichting Cultureel Garantiefonds. Now that Oerol owns the warehouse, we have more space and opportunities to support creators year-round in their research and creative process during residencies on Terschelling.
Oerol festival director Mikey Martins provided a glimpse into the plans for the upcoming festival, while VVV Terschelling director Michel Aaldering shared insights on the success of the Dark Sky campaign. Stichting Evenementen Terschelling presented a check to Staatsbosbeheer for the realisation of Speelnatuur, a play area for children near the Staatsbosbeheer barn in Lies.
Together with our island partners and locals, we raised a toast to the new year and an incredible Oerol Festival 2025 that we are all looking forward to.
