After the two-day IN SITU gathering during the Professionals programme at Oerol 2025, the IN SITU partners met again in Copenhagen for an Immersive Lab session, part of the PLATFORM cycle. Representing Oerol, our artistic director Sabine Pater travelled to Denmark.

During this meeting, 13 artists came together who had been selected to participate in an IN SITU Lab. In these Labs, they work on further developing their project ideas in collaboration with IN SITU partners from across Europe, including the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France, Slovenia, Belgium, Spain, Norway, the Czech Republic, and Romania.

The week in Copenhagen was co-organised by Metropolis and focused on connection, reflection, and exchange. Artists were given practical opportunities to learn how to present their projects clearly and convincingly and took part in workshops with IN SITU partners, where knowledge, methods, and insights were shared.

There was also space for thematic sessions led by both local and international artists. In addition to many one-on-one conversations between artists and partners, the week concluded with a day full of presentations—at locations including a skate park, the waterfront, and the former garden of a Michelin-starred restaurant.

"There were already some strong proposals among them, and it was a real gift to get to know so many different artists, ideas, and contexts." Sabine Pater, artistic director Oerol Festival

Over the summer, five of these Labs are taking place at various locations across Europe. Next year, an IN SITU Lab will also be held at Oerol.
