At Oerol 2025, you experienced performances that, after ten days of playing on Terschelling, now continue their journey on tour at festivals and theatres on the mainland. Many makers use the experiences and audience reactions from Oerol to further develop their work. Curious where you can see them again? We’ve listed it all for you.
Het NUT/Martin Rombouts – Belofte maakt schuld
Belofte maakt schuld (A Promise Is a Debt) is a performance in which theatre maker Greg Nottrot and writer, theatre maker, and The Smartest Person winner Martin Rombouts explore one central question: how can you save the world with €120,000? It’s a show about the responsibility and guilt that comes with having capital.
Belofte maakt schuld runs from 2 to 6 July in Utrecht.
Het NUT/De Nwe Tijd – De Kapitalisten
After The Idealists (2017) and The Futurists (2019), the NUT now presents the final part of its trilogy: The Capitalists. Eight theatre makers met with visionary wealthy individuals and experts during Oerol, capturing their encounters in eight episodes as they explored new forms of capitalism. The result? A colourful variety show at Berlijnplein in Utrecht.
De Kapitalisten plays from 2 to 6 July in Utrecht.
Wabi Sabi – CONTRA
What does it mean to uphold the law in a world full of chaos? How does an officer remain human within a system that’s under pressure? In a thought-provoking blend of dance, text, and live music, CONTRA invites you into the minds and hearts of several police officers.
CONTRA will be performed from 4 to 6 July at FestiValderAa in Drenthe.
Circumstances – BEYOND
In the daring circus and dance performance BEYOND, six performers push their limits. Each with their own specialty — ladder balancing, acro-dance, acrobike, partner acrobatics, and (pole) dancing — they defy gravity in a quest to connect with one another. On stage, they transform into fearless bridge-builders, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
BEYOND will tour across Europe from 4 July through April 2026.
Sanne Vaassen – Fountain of Heartbeats
Water droplets translate the unique heartbeats of animals on Terschelling, from natterjack toads to cormorants, into a melody. When a heartbeat disappears, the melody is changed forever. A tribute to the fragile ecosystems we are part of.
Fountain of Heartbeats is now on view at the Natuurmuseum Fryslân, until 24 August during Arcadia–Paradys in Leeuwarden.
Silent Fragments: Felipe van Laar
Felipe van Laar has installed three portals to invite a more mindful transition into a designated silence area. An ordinary patch of earth suddenly feels sacred — a gentle encouragement to pause and be still.
Silent Fragments is on view until 14 September as part of the IJssel Biënnale.
Sven Ratzke – Dans op de Vulkaan
Berlin, 1925. The city pulses with freedom and extremes. Sven Ratzke takes you into the legendary nightlife filled with glamour, poverty, jazz, and raw decadence — in an era that has more in common with today than you might expect. Together with Matangi, he brings the music of Kurt Weill to life: from sultry chansons to wild swings and cinematic sounds.
Dans op de Vulkaan tours from 11 August, including a performance at Theaterfestival Boulevard.
Not Standing/Alexander Vantournhout – Frames
What happens when you remove the frame from a painting? How much does the frame define the art — or vice versa? And what if you take away the artwork entirely and only look at the frame? Four performers build ever-changing body sculptures within massive frames, exploring the dynamic relationship between frame and art.
Frames is currently touring in Belgium and will be performed from 19 to 21 August at Noorderzon in Groningen.

Theater RAST – Madame Jeanette
A theatrical cooking show filled with spicy conversations and bold flavors. Madame Jeanette is an honest attempt to keep listening to one another in times of polarization. Good food brings people together — and no one ever died from a meaningful conversation.
Madame Jeanette runs from 20 to 30 August at the Amsterdam Bostheater during Bosfest.
As a charming yet dangerously polarising talk show host, actor Denzel Goudmijn kicks off Madame Jeanette by Theater RAST – a fast-paced talk and cooking show that spirals out of control before finding connection once again. de Volkrant
Orkater/De Nieuwkomers: Patrick Ribeiro – Runner
In Runner, Patrick Ribeiro explores whether you can ever truly leave your past behind — especially when it holds actions that are hard to forgive yourself for. Through spoken word, drill, poetry, and the sounds of the street as a sonic backdrop, the right to a second chance is fiercely contested.
Runner will be performed this August at Bosfest and will continue its run in theatres afterward.
De Poezieboys, Joost Oomen & Explore the North – GEESTEN
Some poets believe that inspiration comes from outside themselves — from Martians, spirits, or shadows that pass poetry through them. But if the poet is merely a conduit, who then bears responsibility for what ends up on the page? In GEESTEN, De Poezieboys and Joost Oomen explore these mysterious forces with humour and wonder.
GEESTEN runs from 5 September to 30 November.
Geesten by Joost Oomen and De Poezieboys is a delightful collage of overlapping acts. Amid all the fun, there’s plenty of poetry — some of it their own. Sander Janssens, de Volkskrant
Afra Tafri Creations – Lacuna Kitchen
At Lacuna Kitchen, both the food and the people who prepare, serve, and clean up after it are treated with care and attention. Through untold stories and the often invisible labour of kitchen staff, the performance offers deeper insight into the impact of colonial spice trade and migration — on society, and on your digestive system.
Lacuna Kitchen will be performed from 26 to 28 September at the Grand Theatre in Groningen.

George Tobal Producties/Het NUT – Doekje voor het bloeden
Five actors compete, with the best of intentions, for your sympathy. Not for themselves, but to save a poor soul named Willem. They explore the value of his tragic life story in a humorous theatre performance about charity, good intentions, and the often unbelievable stories behind poverty.
Doekje voor het bloeden tours theatres across the Netherlands starting 26 September.
Doekje voor het bloeden is one of this week’s highlights at Oerol Festival on Terschelling and will go on tour across the Netherlands this autumn. Sander Janssens, de Volkskrant
Memories of Trees: Ragazze Quartet
With their wooden string instruments, Ragazze Quartet gives trees a musical voice. Their memories, stored in growth rings, fill the air in a magical world of light and projections. This all-female string quartet portrays trees as silent witnesses of history.
Ragazze Quartet will perform across the Netherlands and Belgium from 11 October to 20 November.
Sarah Janneh/NITE – Brabo Leone
Places, people, shoulders, fleeting moments – all can feel like home, for a moment or a lifetime. In her solo show Brabo Leone, NITE ensemble member Sarah Janneh weaves a musical tale through the different phases of her life, offering a fluid and inclusive perspective on what it means to belong.
Brabo Leone tours theatres across the Netherlands starting 8 November.
PolakvanBekkum – Koeklok
Each day, PolakVanBekkum worked on a large-scale drawing of grazing patterns of cows – and during Oerol, you could watch them in action. Subtle shifts in movement and time gradually emerged, with new traces added daily. The work is inspired by a fascinating scientific study from the early 1970s on cow grazing behaviour in De Groede.
The drawings will be on view at Drawing Centre Diepenheim in 2026.
Nynke Laverman – OAK
With her enchanting voice, singer and language artist Nynke Laverman draws you into wondrous worlds. Her latest performance, OAK, is a magical musical journey that takes you to the underground annual gathering of the oaks. Come and listen to what the trees have to say.
OAK will be performed in theatres across the Netherlands from 6 March to 16 May 2026.
Nynke Laverman makes a powerful impression at Oerol with an intimate and socially engaged performance – perfectly suited to this Terschelling festival, which enjoyed a warm and sunny opening weekend. Leeuwarder Courant
Blaudzun
In this intimate performance, Blaudzun blends disarming, joyful, and personal stories with music from his rich repertoire. The singer-songwriter makes each show unique, taking the stage in different formations — sometimes solo, sometimes with others, and occasionally with a full band.
Blaudzun will tour theatres across the Netherlands starting 8 April 2026.
