Info
The Blobs are what textile artist, Charlie Holper, imagines would happen if you were to leave their artworks in the forest for them to develop on their own. The shapes of the textiles would change and find support from the trees around them; they would become part of the forest ecosystem. An installation of weaving and wrapping.
Blobs are made from the materials of Terschelling: wool from local sheep, plastic fished from the sea, and textiles donated by the community. They’re part of the island — yet strangers to the forest. None of their second-hand parts come from the woods, but they live alongside the trees. They cling to them to stay upright, yet must take care not to smother or overrun them. They mean well — not just towards the trees, but towards us humans too. They hope you’ll come say hello… and maybe give them a hug.
Visual arts can be visited daily from Saturday 14 June between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
