Info

De helpende handen van Oerol is a documentary about the festival’s volunteers — the helping hands behind Oerol — created by volunteers themselves. The film follows them as they prepare at home, dedicate their time and energy during the festival, and return to their daily lives afterwards.
With this, the project sheds light not only on the visible, but also the behind-the-scenes side of volunteer work at Oerol — the part the audience doesn’t usually see. Filmmaker Tinus Holthuis was at Oerol last year, where he spoke with many volunteers about their experiences. Based on those conversations, an initial group of volunteers has already joined the project as active collaborators. This year, Tinus is back at the festival to gather stories that will later be shaped into a script. In this process, he’s inviting a small group of interested volunteers/co-creators to think and write along.
Have you volunteered at Oerol in the past — or are you doing so now — and would you like to contribute to the script or production of the film? Speak to Tinus during the festival or send an email to oerolv@gmail.com.
