Info

Jantine Jongebloed will be in residence during the festival to conduct preliminary research for two future Oerol projects about dying. Mijn Uitvaart (My Funeral) is a literary audio walk about saying goodbye. De Lijkwade (The Shroud) is an art installation exploring your final ecological footprint. Jongebloed’s projects invite you to ask yourself questions about the inevitable end.
During the solo audio walk Mijn Uitvaart (My Funeral), you’re invited to reflect on your approaching death — and on your relationship with the landscape and the Earth. Along the walking route, you’ll encounter the art installation De Lijkwade (The Shroud): a small field where flax is grown, the raw material for linen. The amount of flax planted here is exactly enough to produce one burial shroud. Yours? Jantine Jongebloed is at the festival for location research, writing and testing. Keep an eye on the Dagkrant and Oerol’s Instagram for a call for test audiences for the audio walk.
Doodgaan (Dying) is part of the Werkplaats. Within the Werkplaats of Oerol, both emerging and established creators are given space to develop location-inspired work throughout the year, often in collaboration with partners. During the festival, several of these artists-in-residence explicitly invite you, the audience, to become part of their work in progress.
