Een poëtisch rommeltje

Gerrit van Balen and Mahat Arab blend spoken word and music in a performance exploring topics such as dating apps, fathers, growing up in Arnhem, and a phobia of football jerseys.

Mahat Arab, originally from Arnhem, is an spoken word artist who has settled in Amsterdam. As the child of Somali refugees, many of his pieces revolve around identity, discomfort, but also the humor we can find in awkwardness. Gerrit van Balen began his musical journey as a guitarist and later delved into jazz at the conservatory in Utrecht. Nowadays, he works as a composer, sound designer, and producer for various disciplines, as well as for his own projects. He prefers making music that he misses and would love to hear himself.
