If the collapse of civilization is bound to continue, it’s at least more bearable with a fierce groove. Luckily, the Ghent-based collective Lézard figured that out early on. Beneath the band’s stylish, geometric post-punk sound simmers a frantic energy: a kind of Boogie Wonderland for eccentrics, misfits, and lost souls — a place where everyone is welcome.
Wandering in the spirit of Devo, LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, and Telex, Lézard’s ‘disco vogue’ art-punk antics have already drawn plenty of attention. The band wears catchiness like an overly tight three-piece suit on a sweltering summer day — it’s only a matter of time before the figurative tie gets yanked loose. On stage, Lézard escalates in the most bewildering and joyful ways imaginable.
