Info

my sweet nasty lunacy is a solo performance by Hélène Vrijdag, sung through her alter ego Woman Folly. This live concert unleashes a collection of hyperpop bangers as an ode to the ‘hysterical’ femme, delivered in an arena of moving lights and stage design you’d expect from a full-blown pop spectacle.
Woman Folly is a queer, feminist response to the character Lady Folly from Erasmus’s In Praise of Folly. While Erasmus praised folly to the skies, he did so in ways that were deeply misogynistic. Hélène reimagined Lady Folly as an imaginary pen pal, to whom she wrote letters over the course of three years. The letters were never answered — but they did become the foundation for her songs, and were published in a book titled Vrouwe Zotte, available for purchase after the show. With tracks like ‘hihi hysteria’ and ‘uterus unhinged’, Woman Folly serves up her “soft setlist from sweet, sweet hell.”
