Opening Oerol Festival 2025

Welcome to de Deining, the beating heart of Oerol for the next ten days — tucked behind the dunes near West aan Zee. From today, we open our doors with a vibrant mix of music, poetry and performance. From Schylger Stout and MAYA MARIA in the Ruige Hoek to Laurens Alexander, Daan Doesborgh and Mensen Zeggen Dingen in the Huiskamer, and Rebekah Reid, Kasba and Parker Fans on main stage de Vallei — this opening day is buzzing.

The first day of the festival is a journey of discovery through the beating heart of Oerol. Main stage de Vallei returns as a place full of energy, beats and stories. The Huiskamer becomes the go-to spot for spoken word and urgent conversations — as well as a pit stop for merch, tickets or just a cup of coffee. Our delicious food line-up is back too, with plenty of options for hungry Oerol-goers. New this year is de Ruige Hoek, a space for experimental work by extravagant makers. On this first day, de Ruige Hoek will be taken over by Terschelling-based talent. Enjoy music, spoken word, summer vibes and a tasty dinner — and end the day dancing: DJ Hellie spins you into the night.

13:00 | Shady Lady
Oerol wouldn’t be Oerol without Shady Lady! This year, there’s a DJ at the festival heart during the day — and today Shady Lady plays an extended set. Until Parker Fans and Hellie take over in the evening, get your hands in the air for Shady Lady.

13:15 | Laurens Alexander | de Huiskamer
Singer-songwriter Laurens Alexander performs de zomer voor altijd. Will he bring the sun with him?

14:30 | Official Opening
Hosts Teddy Tops, Daan Doesborgh and Lin An Phoa kick off the festival. General Director Mikey Martins and Artistic Director Sabine Pater welcome you on behalf of everyone who made this year’s Oerol possible. Lin An Phoa brings it all together with the power of poetry.

14:45 | Rebekah Reid | de Vallei
Rebekah Reid brings international flair to the main stage with a show full of captivating, genre-blurring live music that grows from a single violin motif into a glorious, cinematic fanfare.

Explore the vibrant Oerol programme with your host Daan Doesborgh.

16:45 | Schylger Stout | de Ruige Hoek
Schylger Stout, the folk band from Terschelling, plays Irish, Scottish — and slightly skewiff. Always up for a party! They’re celebrating 25 years on stage.

17:30 | Kasba | de Vallei
A boundless & global musical celebration! For over 25 years, Kasba has been blending North African grooves with Western spices to create a unique sound.

18:30 | The Price of Bricks
The Price of Bricks explores the physical and emotional cost of rebuilding after destruction. A collaboration between Ahmad Mallah and Rebecca Lillich // Krüger.

18:30 | Mensen Zeggen Dingen | de Huiskamer
Mensen Zeggen Dingen is the stage for spoken word. Start your evening with top-notch poetry, prose and performance. Featuring: Lin An Phoa, Patsy Kroonenberg and Laurens Alexander.

18:30 | Dinner at de Deining: fik in je mik
Fik in je mik: a fiery three-course local dinner cooked over open flames, including an amuse-bouche trio! Don’t miss this blazing seaside feast at de Deining. Note: ticket required. More info here.

19:00 | Lange Mannen Met Haast
Dutch-language indie pop with a touch of cabaret, untamed energy and a whole lot of sincerity. Lange Mannen Met Haast come bursting off the stage.

19:45 | MAYA MARIA | de Ruige Hoek
Grown from the sands of Terschelling, MAYA MARIA is the kind of artist who disarms you emotionally — and challenges you at the same time.

20:30 | Parker Fans | de Vallei
With a mix of catchy melodies and endless grooves, Parker Fans invite everyone to lose themselves — any time of day or night.

21:30 | Hellie
Hellie has been spinning vinyl and digital tracks for years with passion — building bridges between classics and contemporary sounds. Come dance through the decades!
