Strange birds fly overhead — cutting straight through your image of summer. And you can’t forgive them, because you never understood them. May I fly with you? Just for a moment, just a little moment…
In Vreem de Vogels, the young band Geestdrift stirs your emotional world with raw honesty — and a touch of punk.
Geestdrift was founded just a year ago by then-eighteen-year-old writer and vocalist Elena Doesburg, and is completed by Bram Struiksma (guitar), Loes Visser (bass), and Luuk Veugen (drums). With their debut track Man op de Maan, they took to the stage at the Melkweg and won the national final of Kunstbende 2024. Since then, Geestdrift has been performing on a wide range of stages.
Vreem de Vogels is an existential, poetic outcry wrapped in a distinctive blend of dreamy melodies, heavy sound walls, confrontational lyrics, and a hint of punk. Geestdrift refuses to be pinned down to a single perspective. They are a movement with a powerful voice — an experience.
