Travel & accommodation

As you undoubtedly know, Oerol is on Terschelling. We’ll book a camping spot (without electricity) for you at one of the campsites below on the days you’re volunteering at Oerol (from your arrival day to your departure day). In the registration form, you can indicate your preference for which campsite* you would like to stay at.

Please note: these camping spots are intended for small tents. Unfortunately, there’s no space for large tents.

*Perhaps other campgrounds will be added later; we will inform you about this.

Campers

We’ve noticed that more volunteers want to bring campers or vans to the island. However, the camping spots we have available are only meant for tents; we simply don’t have the space for campers. Moreover, we encourage everyone to come to the island without motorised transport; the combined transport and travel of the festival (visitors included) are our biggest source of emissions. That’s why it’s vital for us to work together towards minimising our environmental footprint as much as possible. You can read more about this in our Ecological Compass. If you have specific reasons for wanting to bring a camper, you’ll need to get in touch with a camping site of your choice to see if they can accommodate you (NB: such spots will be at your own expense).

Ferry

To get to Terschelling, you take the ferry from Harlingen. You can book your crossing via www.rederij-doeksen.nl. The costs for the crossing are at your own expense. Once you’ve signed up and received confirmation, you can book your crossing! Due to the crowds, we advise you to do this as soon as possible.

We look forward to receiving your application! Sign up here and see you soon!

If you have any questions after filling out your application, you can email us at vrijwilligers@oerol.nl.
