The Dutch Railways (NS) have announced train strikes around the Oerol period on Tuesday 10 June, Monday 16 June, and Tuesday 17 June. This may affect your journey to Harlingen Haven, the departure point for the ferry to Terschelling.
To avoid missing your crossing, we recommend planning your trip well in advance and using alternative travel options where possible.
Carpool with Slinger
With the Slinger app, you can easily offer a ride or join someone else heading to Harlingen Haven. It’s a sustainable and social way to travel, allowing you to share costs and reduce CO₂ emissions.
Comfortable Travel with the Arriva Touring Shuttle Bus
Travel comfortably and sustainably to the festival with the special Oerol shuttle bus from Arriva Touring, departing Utrecht Central Station and Amsterdam Sloterdijk to Harlingen Haven.
The bus runs on renewable diesel, reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 90%. There’s no need to transfer—just sit back, relax, and enjoy the company of fellow festivalgoers as you head straight to the harbour.
Note: The shuttle only runs with a minimum of 15 passengers. If the minimum isn’t met, the ride will be cancelled and you’ll be contacted with an alternative.
Up-to-Date Travel Information
Planning to travel to Harlingen Haven by public transport during Oerol 2025? Please be aware of ongoing construction at the Groningen and Leeuwarden stations, which may affect your journey and your ability to take a bicycle on the train.
If you’re coming by car, take note of roadworks on the Afsluitdijk, which may also impact your travel time.
