Info
Alexander Moto is an eclectic creative. At primary school he wrote stories and fell in love with the piano; at secondary school he discovered rap. Hip hop became his greatest love. Sometimes the piano swallows the beats and Moto feels guilty towards hip hop. At the West-End Theatre, he works on their relationship.
In his show at the West-End Theatre, Alexander Moto brings hip hop to the stage, without compromise. For years, he has created music in a wide range of styles and art in many different forms as a multidisciplinary artist. While he embraces this versatility, it sometimes gnaws at him. As an artist in his twenties, you naturally say ‘yes’ to every opportunity, every excursion, every deepening. And all these layers are valuable, they broaden and strengthen an artist. But what happens when you do choose to channel your focus and return to where you truly found yourself. Where something genuinely special takes place. Back to hip hop. Hip hop according to Moto’s definition.
This show is part of the Explore the North Hub. During Oerol, Explore the North presents work across the island within this Hub by talents connected to its production house. Explore the North is a production house and festival based at Podium Explore in Leeuwarden.
