Info
Raaklijn is a long-term project focused on the ever-shifting boundary between Oerol’s festival grounds and the surrounding protected nature reserve. Each year, Rita Hoofwijk invites different artists to make this invisible ‘tangent’ tangible. This year, the dance company Tumbleweed will travel daily from East to West, performing a choreography at six locations on the edge of the festival.
De Raaklijn is an imaginary line that only emerges during Oerol, appearing across the island where the festival’s permit ends and the protected nature begins. This line is not meant to divide, but to intertwine both sides. This year, Angela and Micaël from Compagnie Tumbleweed will dance daily along a route from East to West: at six locations on the edge of the festival, their choreography will open your eyes to the surroundings. Their journey along the tangent starts at 11:00 AM on the beach near Paal 18 and ends at Loodsenplak around 6:30 PM.
Raaklijn is part of the Werkplaats. Within the Werkplaats of Oerol, both emerging and established creators are given space to develop location-inspired work throughout the year, often in collaboration with partners. During the festival, several of these artists-in-residence explicitly invite you, the audience, to become part of their work in progress.
