For 10 years, Peperwortel has been traveling the country with a characteristic food truck, where taste and atmosphere are the highest good. We became inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine with its honest freshness and the rich flavors that the cuisine of the south has to offer. Peperwortels La Bohème was created from the idea that at festivals the audience wants to be carried away by food just as much as by the program of the festival itself.
After festivals like Rollende keukens, Lowlands, DTRH, ITGWO and Wildeburg we are proud to now also set up our culinary world at Oerol. We hope to surprise the public here with new flavors, surprising combinations and our warm atmosphere. In addition to various pitas with falafel or hummus and a fresh salad, you can enjoy Lebanese tsjakh, a delicious spicy dish with eggplant, fennel, broad beans, peas, lentils, fresh herbs and pomegranate, served in fried flatbread.

Peperwortel was opened in 1995 by two friends, Elianne and Sasja, who further developed their love for cooking while studying. Together with their brother Bart, they wanted to create a place where work and home could be combined, and where both the staff and the people from the neighbourhood could also come home. They realised this wish in a characteristic corner building overgrown with grape vines on the Amsterdam Overtoom, directly opposite the Vondelkerk and the entrance to the Vondelpark. The large Peperwortel ‘family’ still lives on that sunny corner. We now have many loyal customers in and around the neighbourhood and after years of catering for drinks, large parties and birthdays, almost every Amsterdammer we speak to has tasted something from Peperwortel. We were proud when Johannes van Dam in the Parool labelled us as ‘A pearl among caterers’.
