Everything You Need to Know

Don’t forget to pack…

  • Identification: A valid passport or ID card (note: a driver’s license is not sufficient; you cannot work as a volunteer without proper ID).
  • A small and sturdy tent (it can get windy here).
  • Air mattress/sleeping pad.
  • Sleeping bag.
  • Sunscreen (Terschelling has the most sunshine hours in the Netherlands).
  • Warm clothing (it’s often a bit cooler here than on the mainland).
  • Rain gear.
  • Good closed-toe shoes.
  • Phone number of your sub-coordinator.

General rules of Oerol:

  • No alcohol or drugs are allowed before or during your working hours.
  • You are not allowed to wear flip-flops during your shift. Especially at the Festival Heart and in catering, wearing closed-toe shoes is crucial for safety.
