100-year-old Magda marks her final hour, with music by fellow climate activist and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. What deserves to live on after she’s gone? This musical death scene circles the question ‘what do we leave behind?’ — igniting the imagination and stirring the inspiration of those who remain.

Magda can’t do it anymore. She’s not storming the barricades, entering politics or investing in renewable energy — she’s 100 years old and letting go of life. There’s one last bottle to finish, she surrounds herself with the elements in their purest form, and she still has something left to say. Because if stories exist to pass on life’s lessons, then what story do we need now? Cello Octet Amsterdam and Sophie van Winden present a musical ode to everything that lives — by asking what we leave behind. With music by Ryuichi Sakamoto and a new text by Sophie van Winden.
