Eight young writing talents travelled to Terschelling in March and were moved by three remarkable places on the island. These impressions formed the basis for new, poetic texts. Let yourself be carried along by their readings and experience the island as they did this early spring.
Eight voices, eight ways of looking at the same island. Sara-Linn Bouwman, David Gil Bisschop, Bastiaan Okkema, Rowan Vis, Sinne Nova van Dieren, Juul Plomp, Levi Vermeulen and Aleit Palsma wandered through the dunes, cycled along deserted paths and paused where land and sea meet. What they encountered there, they translated into poetic texts that make Terschelling tangible. Familiar places take on new meaning, small moments become large. In this way, a layered portrait of the island emerges: raw, hushed and full of imagination.
Jonge Schrijvers is a writing programme for young people in Friesland, organised by Explore the North and Meeuw jonge theatermakers. Each year, the Young Writers create new work especially for Oerol, inspired by the island and/or its inhabitants.
