Info
The tide continuously influences the shape – and the visitor’s experience – of this installation on the mudflats near Oosterend. During low tide, the installation is a quiet place with a serene view of the mudflats. During high tide, you’ll find yourself surrounded by water. Experience Wadden life up close.
For the last time this year De Streken can be found at the Waddendijk . For two years, across all seasons, filmmaker and photographer Isabelle la Poutré immersed herself in and around De Streken. In summer, she moved among the people, catching conversations about the island, life, and the artwork itself. In winter, she watched the interplay of ebb and flow alone, surrounding the silent echo of the installation.
Rhythm of the Tide is a film about the relationship between man and landscape, and the passage of time. The film is accompanied by a composition by pianist Jeroen van Vliet. This 15-minute film was commissioned by Stichting Tuig and can only be seen during Oerol, on the other side of the Waddendijk.
The operating dates for De Streken have been scheduled around the spring tide, aligning with the tide cycles and the full moon. The installation will be accessible from Wednesday 10th of June untill Sunday 6th of September.
