Magasin moves across the playful terrain of no wave, post-punk and art pop. Multilingual lyrics and pasted-together musical notes are folded in half and stapled down the middle. The rhythms are tight – their first single was even constructed geometrically – but soften when the warm voice of singer Lola breaks through.
Magasin’s debut single consists of the tightly composed Malentendido and the mechanical jam Re cuerdo. Magasin was founded in 2024 by Michiel Klein (guitar) and Lola Diaz Cantoni (vocals), and has since grown into a quartet with Milo Mooi Wilten on bass guitar and Daanie van den IJssel on guitar.
