MAYA’s drive stems from the silence she was forced into during a long illness. That period shrank her already small world, but within the 23-year-old artist it sparked an unrelenting desire to chase her dreams. Today, she never lets hope out of her sight. Known for her eclectic performances and collaborations, MAYA was selected in 2022 for the UpNorth talent development programme, where she co-created the interdisciplinary live show and short film The Chaos of Becoming with Brandon McKinney, performing as a singer, dancer, actor and creative director.
