ODD OKODDO & Ogoya Nengo

Ogoya Nengo is an 83-year-old legendary artist. Her singing style, known as Dodo, is traditionally performed by women and serves both as a way of spreading news through the villages around Lake Victoria and as a form of social and political commentary. Ogoya Nengo and the duo ODD OKODDO present the music from their collaborative album Palagoma.

This remarkable East African diva brings along the seasoned duo ODD OKODDO, consisting of drummer and percussionist Sven Kacirek, who moved from Hamburg to Nairobi, and Ogoya’s old friend, singer and master lyre player Olith Ratego. Together they celebrate the rich culture of the Luo, an ethnic group in East Africa.
