Writers Jante Wortel and Corinne Heyrman both penned debut novels based on personal experiences, featuring protagonists with eating disorders. This creates a bond between them. In conversation, they explore the fine line between writer and character, as well as how their subject matter relates to the world: how can an eating disorder be so invisible yet so prevalent?
Wortel and Heyrman pose questions like: How can a writer differentiate between themselves and their character? When is something too vulnerable? And regarding their subject matter: how can a mental illness, in this case an eating disorder, be so invisible yet so prevalent? What role does society play? From a correspondence between the writers emerged a theatrical performance focusing on polyphony and waiting.
