In this special friends’ event, you’ll head into the forest with the ranger to learn more about the forest ecosystem. In Elmo Vermijs’s work, compost made from sawmill waste streams is returned to the forest—but what effect does this have on the forest soil? Together with the ranger, you’ll monitor the soil like a true researcher: examining its composition, identifying the species present, and comparing it to areas where no compost has been added. In the coming years, we’ll continue this friends’ event to observe how the site develops ecologically over time.
