In this Friends Special, you’ll head out with the forest ranger to dive deep into the forest ecosystem. In the project StagingWood by Elmo Vermijs (Oerol 2022 – Oerol 2025), compost made from sawmill waste was returned to the woods—but what does that actually do to the soil? Together with the forest ranger, you’ll monitor the ground like a true researcher. What is its composition, which species can be found there, and how does it differ from the soil left untouched? We will continue to host this activity in the coming years to track exactly how the location develops ecologically.
