The spark between the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band has ignited! They’ve collaborated multiple times on concerts that blend the sounds of traditional Arab-Andalusian music with klezmer, Balkan, and gypsy music. It left them wanting more! During Oerol, these Amsterdam friends will once again share the stage together.
The Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra plays various musical forms from an area stretching from Granada to Baghdad, spanning different time periods and styles. This brings together Arab-Andalusian music styles from across the entire Mediterranean region. They perform a blend of dynamic rhythms, melancholic melodies, and beautiful improvisations on a mix of Eastern and Western instruments. Combine this with the Amsterdam Klezmer Band: a vibrant ensemble of passionate musicians who bridge the gap between Arabic and Jewish culture. Together, they create a festive mix of adventurous Chosidls, Chaabi Andalus, Cocek, Tarab, Sirba tunes, and let’s not forget the Sufi Andalusian melodies. Prepare to be surprised by rattling brass, frenzied accordion bursts, and who knows what else. All from Amsterdam!
