Info
How do you continue to shape your practice as a site-specific maker or cultural professional in these times? Oerol Professionals and Platform Horizon, together with Kunsten ‘92 and Voordekunst, explore practical and urgent tools to continue making space for art and (site-specific) work, even when that space is under pressure.
Led by Maaike Muis, we explore how site-specific makers and cultural professionals can continue to shape their practice in a time of increasing political and social pressure. In a plenary talkshow, we reflect with guests from the field on the working practice of a site-specific maker, how it differs from the regular field, and what the specific challenges and opportunities are.
This session is open to all interested Oerol Professionals, from makers to producers and policymakers. Following the talkshow, two practical workshops will take place:
- Crowdfunding and pitching: Hosted by Nick Waelbers (Voordekunst).
- Sustainability and the ecological footprint: Hosted by Ryanne de Boer (Kunsten ’92).
We will conclude together with an interactive card game led by Platform Horizon, developed with SoAP and Platform Nexus. This game challenges you to think about what you need or can offer to support artistic practices — specifically not in terms of money or programming, but through other forms of value and exchange.
An afternoon for exchange, practical tools, and strengthening the network of site-specific makers and cultural professionals, in which we will not only think out loud and exchange ideas together, but above all, set things in motion.
The day ends with networking drinks, organised together with DutchCulture and Creative Europe Desk NL. An afternoon for practical tools and strengthening the professional network.
To join the session you will need a (free) ticket. Tickets can only be obtained if you are logged in as an Oerol Professional. For access, you will need both your ticket and your Oerol Professionals or ‘Wij Maken Oerol’ festival wristband.
Please note that this session will be held in Dutch, but international guests are very welcome; you will undoubtedly find a fellow professional happy to translate the highlights for you.
