We’re halfway through the 45th edition of Oerol. At the festival hub, De Deining, people are dancing; in West, Midsland and Hoorn, the streets are filled with street theatre; and all across the island, visitors are making their way to performances in remarkable locations — only to naturally run into each other again later.
Oerol is attracting attention beyond the island as well. This week, NRC wrote: *”Oerol blends magical places with pressing social issues.”* And de Volkskrant noted: *”In the coming days, Oerol audiences will regularly find themselves sitting wide-eyed in the stands, watching performances in which wonder and unease seamlessly go hand in hand.”*
There’s still plenty to discover in the days ahead, with theatre, music, visual arts, street theatre and talks across the festival programme. Even the weather seems to be on our side. Plenty of reasons to stay a little longer — or to book that spontaneous trip to the island after all. Haven’t got your tickets yet? Tickets are still available for a range of performances. Explore the programme and make the most of your final days at Oerol.
And for those following from home, Cornald Maas presents *Opium op Oerol* from Monday to Friday at 7:05 PM on NPO 2.
