Graafdier

Nikki Dekker presents her next book, Graafdier (Burrower) (September, De Bezige Bij), for which she explored the earth’s soil. There, she discovered a completely different world. Dekker takes you on an evocative journey where fascinating stories and profound life questions sprout. Dive underground with her, look into the eyes of the mole cricket, and emerge transformed once again.

The deeper Nikki digs, the further she travels into the past: passing through the creepy-crawlies, the land consolidation, the peat dwellers, the aurochs, and the invention of the clock, until 5 million years ago when the Netherlands lies at the bottom of the sea and whales and giant sharks swim overhead. In this descent, she once again unlocks a world full of possibilities.
