Info
What if you agree to stay together but without communication? What if there’s no route, no guide, only each individual’s will? What remains buoyant when given all the space? The Stilte Samen Zwerving is a ritual guided by the landscape. In silence, free from distractions, you roam together with an impromptu swarm through the vastness of the eastern dune area. What cries out for attention when you remain silent together for three hours?
Wandering Together in Silence is an Earthfulness experience by interrelational artist Ritzo ten Cate and islander Arjan Berkhuysen.
This is one of the 11 exclusive Friends’ events we have specially selected for you as a Friend. You can choose one event per Friendship, where only you can attend. Tickets can be ordered during the sale.
For most events, you can register for free, but this year we also offer exclusive Friends’ events for a symbolic price. These are activities that Oerol can no longer offer entirely free of charge, but which are still an unique experience that you, as a Friend, can enjoy at a discounted rate. It’s good to know that participation is based on availability. So be quick if you’re interested in one of our Friends’ events.
Want to become a Friend too? You can arrange it at oerol.nl.
Accessibility info
This wandering is - even within the expectations of Oerol - an anything but ordinary walk. We have no distractions at hand, including food, drink, cigarettes, watch, phone, camera or even a notebook. This is the only way you can truly immerse yourself in this experience. You cannot get out in between. Only with thunder (lightning) or an accident do we break off the wandering. During the swerving we become detached from the clock time, there is no punctual end time. Smells and conspicuous and/or rustling clothes are not recommended. Shoes or boots that allow you to get off the trails and long pants may be considered. We invite you to bring as little gear as possible. Your phone can be left elsewhere. You may want to leave a bottle of water, thermos or a jacket at the bike for after the event.
